Abstract [en]

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Swedish EPA) has been commissioned to drive the phasing out of fossil virgin raw materials for plastic. One of the potential alternatives is to switch to more bio-based raw materials. To complement the knowledge base for this work, the Swedish EPA has assigned CIT Renergy to investigate measures required to increase the production of biobased plastics (BBP). The assignment partly included investigating how sustainability criteria for biomass used as feedstock for plastic production could be designed, partly to investigate potential national policy measures to foster the advancement of biobased plastic production.
