Abstract [sv]

EU kommissionen har, för 12 reningsverk som saknar särskild kväverening, bett om underlag som visar att naturlig kväverening, eller retention, medger reduktion av kväve upp till de nivåer som krävs enligt avloppsdirektivet.Detta dokument beskriver metoden Sverige använder för att kontrollera att utsläppen inte bidrar till förorening, tack vare naturlig kväverening i svenska sjösystem under transporten mellan utsläppspunkten och kusten.

Abstract [en]

The EU commission has requested information to support the claim that natural nitrogen removal in lakes and rivers downstream of 12 waste water treatment plants comply with the regulations in the Urban Waste Water Directive. This document describes the method Sweden uses to verify that emissions do not contribute to nitrogen pollution, due to natural nitrogen-removing processes in lakes along the flow path between the effluent discharge point and the coast.
