WSP has coordinated a screening investigation of pesticides in the environment during2009 and 2010, as an assignment from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The investigation was divided into three programmes: golf courses, residential/urban areasand professional activities. Sampling programmes were mainly setup by the 19 county administrative boards that participated. The overall goal was to identify whether the use ofpesticides at golf courses, the private or integrated urban pesticide use, and certain professional uses caused contamination of the aquatic environment. In total, the study covered 189 aquatic samples (surface water, stormwater, groundwaterand waste water) and 19 solid samples (sewage sludge, soil and sediment). Most sampleswere taken in the urban and golf programmes. Most samples were analysed for 75 pesticides or metabolites. This report aims at presenting an overview of the investigations andresults, and to present some general observations.
