Cementa has started using blast-furnace slag and other waste products as a raw materialfor the cement factory in Slite. Together with measures to save energy, this has loweredcarbon dioxide emissions by 50 000–100 000 tonnes/year and reduced the use of fossilfuels by 10 000 tonnes/year.
