Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hur tillgången till data om olika plastflöden kan förbättras, och beskriva den nytta som kan komma med bättre plaststatistik. Rapporten redovisar en översyn av hur data om plast genereras och sammanställs till den plaststatistik som finns idag.

Redovisningen följer i stort de plastflöden som identifieras i rapporten Kartläggning av plastflöden i Sverige (SMED 2019). Rapporten diskuterar plastdata och plaststatistik som olika aktörer tar fram och analyserar i vilken utsträckning som det finns ett reglerat ansvar att rapportera plastdata så att det blir allmänt tillgängligt.

Rapporten identifierar fyra huvudsakliga grunder som styr vilken plastdata som rapporteras: KN-systemet, producentansvaret, kommunernas redovisning och miljörapporter från tillståndspliktig verksamhet. 

The purpose of this study was to investigate how the availability of data on different plastic flows can be improved and describe the benefits of better plastic statistics. The study gives an overview data in all plastic flows.

The report presents a review of the sources behind the plastic data and plastic statistics that exist today. The structure largely follows the plastic flows identified in the report Kartläggning av plastflöden i Sverige (SMED 2019). The report discusses plastic data and plastic statistics that various actors produce and analyzes the extent to which there is a regulated responsibility to report plastic data so that it becomes publicly available and thus possible to give base for statistics.

The report identifies four main bases that govern which plastic data is reported: The Combined Nomenclature, producer responsibility, the municipalities' accounts and environmental reports from activities that require a permit.
